4th Fri April Touch
On the 4th of April we had our final touch session and it was a sport science inter class competition with Ms Thomas' class at lunch time because class was rotated out. It was a seven at a time match with the rest of the class as subs. Our class lost 5-3 I think.
I would put my participation at achieved level because I had brought my PE gear to play in but I don't think I contributed as much as I could of because I was nervous playing with a lot of others looking at us play. I did follow orders though from the people commanding the team but I was still stiff and I had dropped the ball because of it.
Factors that influenced me would be my lack of focus and courage, because of this I did not play up to my full strength and had dropped the ball. I was so focused on the crowd that a person had gotten past me. This had dropped team moral when they kept scoring but when we collected ourselves at half time we found the strength to fight back. Another factor would be the refereeing because we did not have a proper ref at the start of the game which made easier for people to get away with mistakes.
If I were to boost my participation level I would try to get focused before the game before we lose a point. I would also like trying to run on the inside for a change to see how things would go and if it would bump up my grade.
3rd Thurs April Touch
On the 3rd of April Thursday we had our 4th session of touch. It was the same old same old. Doing stretches at the start then moving on to the same ball exercise and then practicing our sets and plays before we had mini games.
I would put my participation at achieved level because I was organised by bringing my PE gear and contributing to the team stretches and following orders from the others.
Several factors influenced my performance, the first would be from being tired. last night I was busy with something and because of it I had to stay up late. Another would be the heat and how it made us sweaty and sticky. One more factor would be the team moral, we were all unmotivated in our own way which led to a lot of mistakes.
If I were to improve my participation level I would try at being a more needed character or a more hands on person like the dummy half or a person on the inside.
2nd wed April Touch
On the 2nd of April we had our 3rd session of touch. On the day we did similar things to the previous day like stretching, jogging and ball exercises like the four corners and running line. There was nothing new on the day we just repeated what we did previously, but because we knew what to do we quickly done it and had extra time for mini games.
I would put my participation level at achieved because I had the right gear to play in, I also had the right shoes. I had participated in all the set tasks properly and without struggle or causing problems. I did not put in a lot of Motivation into playing though because I do not like touch. I went through the training complaining that tag would have been better.
Several factors that influenced my participation would be the sport itself because I do not like how we can only run until someone touches us. To me this makes the sport boring and too fast paced because it gives you no resting time and this always leads to mistakes. Another factor that would always bother us was the heat, making us sweat and tired easily.
If I were to improve my participation I would try to make the sport seem interesting or try to change my point of view of the game. I would also try at a leading role in the sport like playing dummy.
Tues 1st April Touch
On the 1st of April we had our 2nd period of touch. On the day we were split up into 3 teams and we were given a part of the turf to stretch and do basic exercises to loosen up the muscles. Afterwards we were called back to the teacher to the some ball exercise where we had to jog in a line where we pass the ball to the right continuously until we run to a certain point on the turf. Another exercise would be one with four corners marked with cones and with two people run with the ball to the middle of the square and pass to the left we then had mini games at the end of the period.
I would put my participation level at achieved level because I had brought my PE gear and had an energetic start but that had quickly faded when we were starting too late because we were waiting for the others for too long leaving me feeling bored and unmotivated. At first the day was cool but when we started doing our stretches the temp. just jumped when the Sun came out from behind the clouds, it suddenly started blazing and I was sweating from just jogging the width of the turf, because of the heat I became tired easily.
Factors that influenced my participation would be that the others were too slow at changing and that I get bored easily. Another factor would be the sun light and heat which left us sweating. One more factor would be my unwillingness to play touch because I personally don't like the sport because it doesn't let run how you like and you have to set up plans to score a try. Touch is a sport that heavily weighs on team work, if players are new to the sport they would find it difficult like all sports but in this sport you would find that you would be passed the ball a lot because of the restricted numbers and fast pace.
If I were to raise my level of participation I would try to get pumped up and if they were taking too long I would just practice with the people there, passing the ball so I would not get bored and just sit there. To block out the Sun I would try to wear a hat so try at least lower my temp. by a bit. I would also try to like the sport or try to warm up to the sport so I would enjoy it more when I play.
31st march 1st Touch session
On the 31st of March we practiced touch on the field. On the day we had a reliever so we just went straight into a game of three teams playing touch. Touch is a sport close to rugby but instead of tackling you only have to touch the other player. The max number of touches are 5 after that it is hand over.
several factors influenced my participation. One thing that influenced me was the fact that I hadn't played a rugby ball based sport since intermediate which left me questioning my ability and leaving me not knowing how much I have forgotten or how much I knew. Another factor would be my teammates, I did not know their style of playing so it was hard to set up plays. This left us with the basic drills of running forward getting touched and passing the ball after wards
I would put my participation level at achieved level because I had brought the right gear to play in. I did not have the motivation to play though because I had not played touch in about 2-3 years. I did play in the sport properly though because, even though I had not played in a while I still did not want to give up easily and just lose. Another factor would be the heat. On the day it was very hot and we just had lunch before and I was playing Basketball the whole time so I had felt very dehydrated by the time we had to play touch.
If I was to improve my participation level I would try to get myself organised before the touch game like having a drink or stop playing basketball before the break finishes to recharge the batteries and have a rest
18th and 19th sailing trip
On the 18th and 19th of March we (Mrs Bennet's sport science class) went on a sailing trip. On the first day we sailed from island to island and hiked up a mountain. We then played spotlight on an island after swimming. On the second day we had to wake up early and go for a swim in the cold morning, we then went to a different island with a old and broken boat near the shore, and made a raft to swim back in. We then sailed back home afterwards.
I would put my participation at achieved level because I had brought enough gear to last me the two days. On the hike I didn't walk as fast as the others, at first it was because we were walking uphill but then it turned into me just walking by myself and looking at the scenery, from the trees to the birds flitting through them, and eating lunch on a bench. On our first encounter with swimming in the ocean I refused to jump in because I was not confident in swimming that changed though when I had dropped my towel in the ocean and had to jump in myself to fish it out before it sunk in too far down, because of this incident I had more confidence when swimming with the raft.
Several factors had influenced my participation, the first was my confidence in the water because of this I was afraid of swimming which wasted a lot of my time because we only had a limited time swimming and it also separated me from the rest of the class. Another factor would be about me personally. I do not like stepping out my comfort zone because I do not like trying new things, this also applies to swimming in the ocean without the beach, I do not like doing things that i do not want to do.
If I was to improve my participation level I would try to do things that are out of comfort zone without over thinking things through so I could see if I enjoy it before I judge it. I would also try to boost my in water confidence so I could do things water based easily or without worry like surfing or sailing again

Tony Martins - Gyming it up No.5
Today on the 8th of March we had started our gym time at period 4 again. Everyone knew what happened last time and because it was our last session everyone tried their hardest. What I mean by this is that everyone was raring to go considering it was or last session. I had done the 5min rowing machine test but I was tiring quickly because the previous work outs without stretching were now affecting but I struggled and pushed through finishing the 1000m 5min rowing.
For my participation, I would put myself at achieved level because I had brought the right gear and a towel but not the bottle. I tried really hard seeing as I might never come back again. I was also using machines that I had not tried before like the leg curl and the abdominal crunch. Also the rests between each set of lifting was beginning lessen as I was pushing myself to keep going.
Several factors influenced my participation. The first and most important was the fact that this was our last session and how we had to make the most of it. Another factor was me not feeling as tired as I usually do, I kept pushing and pushing until it was finally time to go back.
A way to improve myself would be to try to stay up beat or trying to conserve my energy and to make the most of what you got. Another would be to eat breakfast to have even an extra bit of energy to use and finally to jog and stretch before and after the lifting to get the body moving and to loosen up the tense muscles from the previous days work so you wouldn't injure yourself.
